Testing Waters

It looks like there’s a lot of tools outhere to make money online. I just found a site that pays you to post. It doesn’t have to be your registered blog. Or shall I say, you don’t need to register your blog at all. You just register your name and once you get the confirmation link (which they send to you straight away), you can log in and post a campaign. So now I’m testing waters.

Iron Tools

But the godless are like thorns to be thrown away,
for they tear the hand that touches them.
One must use iron tools to chop them down;
they will be totally consumed by fire.

2 Samuel 23:6–7
view in context

Encouragement for Today
We live in a dangerous world, for evil is all around. We have to be armed with “iron tools” to chop it down. What are those tools? Prayer, the Word of God, and faith. Our job is to chop down the thorns of evil; God’s is to consume them with fire. What evil tears at you, and how can you “chop it down”?

Our Ford Car

Our Ford car is really very old. The color is fading. The paint is starting to come off. My husband feels very embarrassed when he drives and sees a friend driving a new and nice car. So now, he’s thinking of doing a repaint for the car. He’s still not thinking of changing cars because he loves his used ford. It may be old but the engine is still in excellent condition. That’s because he’s taking care of it really well. He sends his car for a service at least once in a year. The only thing is, when other people borrow his car, when they return, something really happens to it that everytime we need to send it to a machine shop.

However, if my husband needs to change cars, he would opt for used ones. It’s not worth buying a brand new car, he says. You can actually get a nice used cars with little mileage and well-serviced ones. There are car owners that really takes good care of cars and when they sell it used, it is till in good condition. I don’t mind buying used cars at all. You just need to look for a trusted car dealers and you get a good one. We may have to do this once we decided to change cars. Otherwise our Ford car is still very good.

Good Leader

The God of Israel spoke.
The Rock of Israel said to me:
“The one who rules righteously,
who rules in the fear of God,
is like the light of morning at sunrise,
like a morning without clouds,
like the gleaming of the sun
on new grass after rain.”

2 Samuel 23:3–4

Encouragement for Today
What a beautiful picture of someone who governs righteously! We need the new hope described here. Let’s pray earnestly and regularly for leaders who will rule in the fear of God: “Lord, raise up leaders who will govern from your wisdom.” Closer to home is the leadership you exercise as a church or community leader, parent, or employer: “Lord, equip me to lead wisely, according to your truth.”

My Boy Goes to School

My boy had started going to this year. He goes to Q-dess Kindergarten. I’ve heard that it’s one of the best kindy school in Malaysia. And the plus point is that it is just walking distance from where we live. Four blocks away from the house. That’s great for me because I don’t drive yet. So when my husband is not around to pick him up from school, I walk there, taking my baby girl in a stroller. Sometimes, it can get quite hot. So I put sunscreen lotion for my boy’s skin before going to school and for my girl just before we go and walk to the school. The sun’s scorching heat can cause damage to the kids’ skin, so I make sure they’re protected. It’s better to prevent than to cure, isn’t it?

I have to use sunscreen for my face everyday too. Nowadays, with a lot of products available in the market, it’s hard to choose which product is good for us. Maybe, tryScreen, Inc.. It’s a new product that can be used everyday without damaging your skin.

Give Them Hope

There are a lot of people who had gone into deep trouble. Reasons may vary but one of those reasons was due to the nature of their spending habit. They spend without thinking of their future. They spend like there’s no life the next day. They even spend without money. How do they do this? They use credit cards, not just one but a lot of them.
Nowadays, you walk into any mall, there are agents offering you to apply for credit cards. You would notice that each company offers you nice benefits just so you will apply even though you have your own credit card already. At the end of the day, you will see that it is just one of those cards that you’ve been using. And you are so tempted to use it especially when other cards have reached their limits already. What happens next? You will wake up one day drowned in credits.

But of course, there is hope for you. There are companies that give bad credit loans so you will be able to stand up again and make your life better.

Today Is Another Day

And yes, another exciting day as today is MPH bookshop warehouse sale. I have invited two of my friends to go with me. This was gonna be my first time to go out without kids and hubby for a long long time. So, I’m quite excited.

Unfortunately, one of my friends couldn’t go with us. That left me with my other friend, Aletta, who decided to bring her two kids along. We left at 2:00pm but reached the place at 4:30pm! We were a bit lost. Driving in KL can be a bit crazy coz once you miss one turning, it would be another half an hour to one hour to be able to make a u-turn. That happened this afternoon.

Nevertheless, we had fun going around the book sale. It was so cheap. I bought some books for the kids, a book for my husband and two parenting books for myself. It was worth going there. It was their first day of sale so I got quite a good buy.

Who Would Trust Them?

It’s a reality today. A lot of people are so in deep trouble. There are many reasons. They don’t know how to spend their money. The don’t care what will happen to their future if they keep on spending. Not only that, even if they don’t have enough money, they use whatever they can just so they can get what they want. They end up using credit cards. And they not only have one card. They use lots of them. And when they do, it’s hard to keep track of the money they spend or the credit they spent. They end up drowned in a neck-full credit.

And you think they become hopeless and helpless, nowhere to go for help because nobody would trust to lend them money. Oh well, the good news is that there is a bad credit credit cards to help those who have bad credit history, giving them help and hope. And that is a good news indeed.

What Makes a Woman Wise?

But a wise woman in the town called out to Joab, “Listen to me, Joab. Come over here so I can talk to you. …”

“I am one who is peace loving and faithful in Israel. But you are destroying an important town in Israel. Why do you want to devour what belongs to the LORD?”

And Joab replied, “Believe me, I don’t want to devour or destroy your town! That’s not my purpose. All I want is a man named Sheba son of Bicri from the hill country of Ephraim, who has revolted against King David. If you hand over this one man to me, I will leave the town in peace.”

“All right,” the woman replied, “we will throw his head over the wall to you.” Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off Sheba’s head and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the ram’s horn and called his troops back from the attack. They all returned to their homes, and Joab returned to the king at Jerusalem.

2 Samuel 20: 16, 19–22
view in context

Encouragement for Today
A wise woman (who’s never even named) saved a whole town from destruction. How? She had the courage to engage Joab, who was battering down the city wall! She got his attention, ascertained who he was, asked him to listen to her, focused him on his real goal (destroy Sheba, not the city), and then went back to her people with a plan of action (kill Sheba and prove it to Joab). What a wonderful example of a woman not being afraid to speak up and take action! In fact, that’s exactly what made her “wise.”

We’re Going for a Holiday

I am so craving for a nice, cool, relaxing and well deserved holiday. But for this month of May, my husband’s schedule is quite busy. So we’re only going to go for a holiday next month, in June. A friend is giving us a free hotel stay for 7 days! That’s awesome. We have booked the place already, but we haven’t gotten a confirmation yet. I am very excited for this one because the last time we went for holiday was a long time ago already. I think if I’m not mistaken, the last time we went for holiday was last year.

Nowadays though, if you want to go for a holiday, you can do bookings online. There are a lot of online travel agent that does the bookings for you, thus it’s easy to find good places to go for holidays. Online booking means you don’t have to drive and go to a travel office. You just do so in the comfort of your home, office or even in cafe shops!

God Listens

I took my troubles to the LORD;
I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.

Psalm 120:1
view in context

Encouragement for Today
What troubles do you need to bring to the Lord today? What cries of the heart do you need to utter before him? He’s ready, waiting to hear your troubles and cries. People may not always want to hear about your difficulties, but God does! Bring them to him … all of them. He will answer; expect it and look for it.

Who’s Your Priority?

They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.

Acts 1:14
view in context

Encouragement for Today
In Mark 3:21 and 31, we see Jesus’ family thinking, “He’s out of his mind.” They tried to talk to him, perhaps to talk some “sense” into him. But after Jesus’ death and resurrection, his mother and brothers were in the Upper Room, now followers of Jesus. Though he didn’t let their misunderstanding of his mission hamper his ministry, he also didn’t neglect them. Their salvation was as much a priority as “the world” he came to save. Is the salvation of your own family a priority for you?
